Plant care built around your home,
one window at a time.

Map your windows once. Every watering reminder and Doctor consultation is grounded in your specific light and each plant's history - not a generic care sheet.

How it works

Three steps to sun-aware plant care.

  1. 1

    Add a plant

Take one photo. Planterra identifies the species and sets a care schedule.

  2. 2

    Map your windows

Walk to each window and tap once. Planterra learns your light in a minute per window.

  3. 3

    Follow along

Reminders arrive when your plants need them. Ask the Doctor when something looks off.

Where's the sun over you, this second?

Planterra models this for every window in your home, every hour, all year. Click Use my location and watch the sun move.

Sun mapping

Know your rooms the way your plants do.

Walk to each window once. Planterra reads the compass direction and, from that day on, tracks the sun's real path across your home - every hour, every season. It knows which window peaks at 12:45 PM and which corner loses light in winter.

No other plant app does this. Because no other plant app knows your home.

Planterra Plant Doctor AI chat diagnosing a Ficus Ginseng bonsai, with the plant's patient card
The Plant Doctor

A consultant that remembers every visit.

Every plant gets a patient card - a running record of what's been diagnosed, what you tried, what worked. The Doctor reads it before every reply, so you never start over.

Yellow leaves in month three get treated as a follow-up to overwatering in month one - not a stranger's first appointment.

Light meter

Your iPhone knows lux.

Some spots that look bright are actually dim. Some corners you'd never consider are perfect for a shade-loving plant. Point your phone anywhere - Planterra reads the real light level and suggests plants that would thrive there.

How the meter works
The light was always there.
We just built a way to see it.
Perfect fit

Planterra was built for people who want to figure things out.

If you recognise yourself in any of these, you're in the right place.

Reformed plant killer

You have watered the same succulent to death three times. You know it. You want a system that catches you before the fourth.

First-time plant parent

You just brought home your first Monstera. You need honest, boring instructions - not "vibes" and "just eyeball it."

Serious collector

You have 30+ plants across 4 rooms and are tired of tracking care in spreadsheets. You want per-plant memory that scales.

Data-nerd grower

You already own a lux meter and a hygrometer. You want an app that speaks in numbers, not "bright indirect light."

Not just another plant identifier 🌱

Every other plant app treats every consultation
as a stranger's first appointment.

Planterra remembers your Monstera's history - what you tried in March, what actually worked in April, why you switched pots in June. The Doctor reads that story before every single reply.

From our first users

What people are saying.

It's the first app that actually tracks my plants over time. I really like the window compass feature, and I'm genuinely using the watering and fertilising reminders - not just ignoring them.

I'm pretty bad with plants, honestly. Planterra told me exactly where to put each one so it would actually thrive, and how much to water it. No more guessing.
L Lena Beta tester
I love giving my plants ridiculous names - and the fact that Planterra identifies them almost instantly makes the whole thing so much more fun.
K Katya Beta tester
The Plant Doctor is my favourite part, I know I'll keep coming back to it. Hoping to see more gamified features soon so I can compare what I've found with other users.
I Irene Beta tester
Great design, genuinely useful features. I'm already recommending it to friends and family.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask.

Is Planterra free?

Yes. Free tier includes plant ID, 1 tracked plant, 2 Doctor consultations per week, 1 mapped window. Pro is €8.99/month or €34.99/year with a 7-day free trial.

How does the light meter measure lux without a real sensor?

Planterra uses the iPhone's rear camera. It reads scene brightness, corrects for exposure, and outputs a lux estimate accurate enough for plant care.

Can Planterra help diagnose plant diseases and pests?

Yes. Send the Doctor a photo. It recognises yellowing, spots, wilting, mites, mealybugs, root rot, sunburn, nutrient deficiencies and gives fixes based on your plant's care history.

How is Planterra different from a plant identifier app?

Plant identifier apps stop at species and a generic care sheet. Planterra maps your home's light, tracks each plant's history, learns your weather, and gives the Doctor context every time.

Do I need to create an account?

No. No sign-up, no email, no server. Your plants live on your phone.

The Best Plant Care Apps in 2026: An Honest Comparison

Planta, PictureThis, Greg, PlantIn, Blossom, and Planterra compared - what each one does best, where it falls short, and who it's actually for.

How to read your window's light in under a minute.

Compass direction is a starting point. Depth from the glass, obstructions, and time of year change everything. Here's how to think about it.

Why "bright indirect light" is unhelpful advice.

The phrase means five different things depending on who's saying it. A lux number cuts through the ambiguity. Here's the range that actually matters.
