Planterra uses the iPhone's rear camera. It reads scene brightness, corrects for exposure, and outputs a lux estimate accurate enough for plant care decisions.

Walk to each window and tap once. Planterra reads the compass direction via the iPhone's magnetometer, combines it with your latitude and the date, and calculates the sun's path across your home from that day on.

Yes. Send the Doctor a photo of the affected leaf or the whole plant and describe what you're seeing. It recognises common issues (yellowing, spots, wilting, spider mites, mealybugs, root rot, sunburn, nutrient deficiencies) and suggests specific fixes based on the plant's care history.

Plant identifier apps stop at the species name and a generic care sheet. Planterra maps your specific home's light, tracks each plant's individual care history, learns your local weather, and gives the Doctor context about every plant every time you consult it.

Yes. Mark a plant as living outdoors during setup and Planterra switches to weather-driven care: watering intervals adjust for real forecasts, reminders skip after heavy rain, and the Doctor factors in your local frost risk and heat waves.

Within about 15% for typical indoor conditions - accurate enough for plant care. If you own a dedicated lux meter, Planterra's readings usually match its category (bright indirect vs medium vs low) with the same recommendations.

All your data is gone with the app. No ghost profile, no shadow account, nothing on a server to delete. That's by design.

Yes. Settings → Export creates a JSON file with all your plants, care history, and mapped windows. You keep the file wherever you want.

Tap "Start free trial" - you get all Pro features for 7 days without being charged. Cancel any time in the App Store Subscriptions settings. If you don't cancel, you're billed automatically on day 8.

Yes. Manage it in App Store → Subscriptions. Switching to annual is retroactive-friendly - you get a prorated credit.
